Online Therapy In Georgia & Throughout The US

Due to COVID-19, chronic illness, distance to my office, a busy schedule, or the crazy Atlanta traffic you may not be able to attend a therapy session in person. The good news is that online therapy is available, and research has shown that it is as effective as therapy that takes place in person. Although it may seem unfamiliar at first, many people find that they like meeting online for a variety of reasons (convenience, ability to meet during a one hour break in their day, avoiding traffic, etc). People usually have several questions when it comes to online therapy or teletherapy which I have answered below. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

What is online therapy?

Teletherapy is a therapy session that takes place on your computer, tablet, or phone (any device with a camera and speakers will work) through HIPAA compliant video conferencing software. This allows you the freedom to schedule sessions without having to travel to my office.

In what states can you provide online therapy?

You need to be located in a state where I am licensed in order for me to provide online therapy to you. As of May, 2023, I am licensed in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Washington DC, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Will we ever meet in person in Duluth, Georgia?

That is really up to you. If you live locally, you are welcome to come to some sessions in person and do some online. I am always open to meeting in person, and having a mixture of in person sessions and online sessions with clients.

Is online therapy the same as regular therapy?

Yes and no. It’s not exactly the same since we do not have the ability to sit across from each other and interact in person. However, online therapy is similar in many ways. With good headphones and a strong internet connection, we are able to communicate quite easily, and the content we discuss is likely to be the same.

Does online therapy in Georgia work?

Yes. Research studies have shown that online therapy is as effective as in person therapy.

What are the benefits of online counseling?

There are several benefits to teletherapy. You do not have to leave your house and deal with Atlanta traffic. You are able to schedule appointments for times that might not have worked if you had to factor in the time to drive here. If you have any physical conditions that make it hard for you to get around, you will not have to worry about the stress of getting yourself here.
